White Christmas

My mom bought me gloves and I made a snowman.

Christmas duck.

Cold.

Wow. It's chilly. I like the snow, it's pretty, but I don't like what it does to the puget sound commute. Friday it took 3 hours to get to work, then three to get home. At least half that time was spent waiting for the bus. Brr. Here's some frozen spider webs:

Those are the mountains we can see from our bedroom.

Holiday Festive.

First, so you can see it....

Second, 'cause it looks pretty...

Third time's the charm.

The third cake was perfect.

The first and second cakes were not.

But they were all delicious.

Spoooooooooky....

This pumpkin won me the carving contest at work.

We've been adopted.

His name is Orange Eye for now. We think someone moved away and left him behind. He seems to have abandonment issues, but he's very sweet and he seems to like our back porch.

Photos.

Yay farmer's market! I got this bouquet for five bucks!

Mmm... root vegetables. We've had a very colorful diet lately.

Mmm... yes, that's a blue ribbon on the can, folks. We made some beer-butt chicken. I'll post a recipe on the food blog soon, I promise.

Dining room furniture...

Just in case you didn't know, my parents are rad. They were going to buy me a camera for my birthday, but instead they surprised me with an antique dining set. Here it is in situ.

There is a built-in China cabinet on the left. On the right is the one that came with the set.

I love inlaid wood.

Camping!!! See? It's sunny sometimes in Washington...

This is what happens when you get drunk in the forest.

I love the light this house gets in the summer.

Black cats are hard to photograph without grossly overexposing them. I love this photo of Beezer.

And though I'm not a huge fan of lace, I like how the curtains on our front door look in this light.

Two years.

This is what I came home to on our anniversary. A dozen red roses plus two white ones. I think I'll keep him. :)

5.6.08

We've been on a healthy food kick...

Not only is it vegetarian, it's vegetables! Mom would be so proud.

And these are those mountains I talked about that you can see from my bedroom.

We needed something to put under the cheese.

Three cheers for having a barbecue. We threw a housewarming/my birthday party the weekend after we moved, so we ended up with leftover cheese. We bought spencer steaks to put underneath. :)

First dinner in the new house

Wow. It's so quiet. It's amazing. I tried not to complain about the roommates too much, because they made us so miserable for so long, but now that they're gone, it's just so quiet. We moved all by ourselves, in basically one 12-hour long push to get the hell out. Lacking the gumption to carry it upstairs, we spent our first night on our mattress on the living room floor. No more TV! Woo!

A few nights later, our first dinner. Lacking a dining table, we made do with some boxes. Life is good.

One week left...

Just about two years into the "married" thing, and Caine and I will finally be free of roommates. This means my psychotic control over my domain can begin! Bwah hah hah.... I like to think I'm not nuts, and that really, all roommates are inherently filthy, disgusting, creatures. We'll see how it goes next week.
